Environmental Site Investigation & Remediation for New Hotel

Wilcox & Barton, Inc. was retained by the new property owners to remediate and support redevelopment of this former commercial dry cleaning property as a modern hotel.  Significant soil removal was conducted to address petroleum contamination.  We designed and implemented plans for remedial injections to address chlorinated volatile organic compounds (cVOCs) in soil and groundwater.  We also provided soil engineering and consulting support to the design team during construction of the hotel.  Excess urban fill soil generated during foundation excavation was characterized and shipped offsite to a licensed receiving facility.

During construction, Wilcox & Barton, Inc. oversaw and documented installation of a sub slab ventilation system and vapor barrier beneath the hotel building as added protection against any future vapor intrusion concerns.  We worked closely with owners and tenants at adjacent properties to evaluate potential vapor intrusion concerns associated with the contamination at the subject property.  In-situ remediation is ongoing, and Wilcox & Barton, Inc. will continue to perform monitoring activities at the site and at nearby properties until regulatory standards have been achieved.

Wilcox & Barton, Inc. assisted the client to acquire funding through NHDES for investigation and monitoring work related to the petroleum release.
